Lake Erie Energy Development Corporation (LEEDCo) is a regional non-profit representing Ohio’s public interest in offshore wind on Lake Erie. LEEDCo is comprised of NorTech, The Cleveland Foundation, City of Cleveland, Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Lake, & Lorain Counties.
An initial 20-30 megawatt (MW) offshore wind project, Icebreaker is designed designed to be a catalyst to building an industry in Ohio by capturing first-mover advantages associated with job creation and economic development. Icebreaker consists of 5-7 GE 4.1 MW direct drive turbines (20-30 MW) located 7 miles northwest of Cleveland in areas identified as "favorable" by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
